Long Time No Write!

I haven't posted in forever but I've been busy!  I learned that posting on my local Buy, Sell, Trade pages on Facebook gets me lots of requests for custom orders! I've been working on t-shirt quilts (2 of them), quilts made from a deceased mom's fabric (5 of them!), quilts from a mom's shirts (3 of them), a custom order for a college dorm, and some projects I just want to do for fun.  Plus my quilt along that I'm behind on!  Here's what I've finished over the past two months since I've posted last.

Got some pieces of alphabet fabric so I cut the letters out and used them to make a couple baby quilts.  I did this one in order but also made one more with no order that I actually liked better.

Had some leftover strips of this fabric that I love so I threw together a little baby quilt that sold and shipped to Brooklyn, NY!

Have done a few more flannel and cotton baby blankets.

This is a quilt I made a long time ago, I think maybe my third quilt ever back when I was in college, that was at my Gram's to be binded (before I knew how to bind.)  When my Gram passed this was in a tub that ended up at my mom's house that I found a few weeks ago when I was there.

This is one of three throws I made for a lady whose mom had passed away recently and instead of taking all of her clothes to Goodwill she had these made for her and her two brothers.  One is complete and the other two are still getting quilted.

Leftovers of the Moda Persimmon jelly roll that I loved!  Still going to make another one of these with the yellows and corals that I have left.  I like how it turned out and can't wait to see it quilted.

Little Halloween banner I threw a border on.  Cuteness!

My sister in law claimed this fabric the minute she saw it for her first baby girl due in a few weeks.  Pattern is Key to My Heart and the jelly roll I found at JoAnn's.  I don't typically like their fabric much but this roll was gorgeous so I couldn't pass it up!

This was Lesson 2 of the Quilt Along I'm doing.  I think we're up to 8 now so I've got some catching up to do!

This is one of two t-shirt quilts I'm doing for a lady for Christmas gifts for her two kids.  It turned out really good and I can't wait to get it quilted and finished up.

This was the Yummy pattern I was doing with the Moda Persimmon jelly roll.  My aunt has claimed this one so as soon as I get it back from quilting that's where it will be headed.

Current Projects

I'm currently working on a quilt and a quilt along.  I'm absolutely loving this fabric that I'm making with the Yummy pattern.  It's the Persimmon jelly roll by Moda.

My mom talked me into joining this quilt along - Aiming for Accuracy II - at http://mishkasplayground.com/2015-quilt-along/.  Here are my first two blocks:

I also have two quilts to bind and one to get a border on.  I also have two custom table runner requests and a request for "unpaper" towels.  So look for those to come soon!

I'm Back!

I can't believe it's been so long since I've been here!  But two carpel tunnel and one cubicle tunnel surgeries have slowed me down.  I'm currently typing with 9 stitches in my hand and 24 staples in my elbow!

I've still been busy though making lots of things.  Quilts of course have been my favorite!  But I've done a different type of hair bow and some more baby stuff.  Hope you enjoy it all and I'll be back to blogging regularly in a week or two more.

Keep Crafting!

Bibs, Burps Cloths and More!

I've been a little slacking lately due to being busy with end of year work.  Yesterday I tried my hand at my first ever bib.  I did regular cotton fabric on one side and terry cloth on the other and used a velcro closure.  I think it turned out pretty good and will be making more of these to sell at the local boutique and on my Etsy store (www.mamawhocrafts.etsy.com)  I was worried about the neck being too small but I tried this on my three-year-old and it fit her fine.

Then because those polka dot burp cloths turned out so well I did some jungle animals ones.  I just love the fabric with the lions, giraffes, hippos, birds, turtles, zebras, elephants and snakes.  So cute!  What great shower gifts or baby gifts these would make!  Along with a matching bib perhaps?

I've had this fabric sitting around for a few months not sure of what to do with it.  I'm really digging these colors and am obsessed with chevron, as I've mentioned before, and I think this would work pretty great for a neutral baby's room or baby shower decorations.  Or just regular home decor too!  Or as a photo prop background or a party decoration.  The list could go on!

I probably won't be around for awhile.  I'm having carpel tunnel surgery this week so it might be awhile before I'm crafting again.  But I'll be itching to get back to it so maybe you'll see me sooner than you think!

Keep Crafting!

New Favorite Project!

I saw a tutorial on making burp cloths with terry cloth on one side and regular cotton fabric on the other.  I found some decent priced terry cloth on Amazon and tried them out today.  I love them!

They look like great quality, are easy to make, and feel like they'll be nicely absorbent and useful.  Hopefully they'll be a big seller in my Etsy shop!  (www.etsy.com/shop/mamawhocrafts)

What do you think?  Great baby gifts?
